The other archives

The D'Arcy Archive is one of seven, each following a different line of the same family. They use the same method and the same five words for how sure a thing is.

The Defranceschi Archive Istria · Kvarner · Carnia A family written down under eight sovereigns, in four languages, and spelled at least nine different ways. Defranceschi · De Franceschi · Defranceski · Defrančeski
The Falco Archive Arienzo, near Naples Nine documented generations born, married and buried in one valley, and then a migrant ship to Brisbane. Falco · Zampiello · Morgillo · Crisci · Liguori · Maione · Rivetti · Annecchino
The Blažević Archive Senj and the Krmpotska mountains An evidence-first archive for the family of Hedviga Blažević of Senj — carriers, a tobacco factory, and a wall grave. Blažević · Papić · Vukelić · Žubrinić · Kalanj
The Booyzen Archive Graaff-Reinet · Cradock · Johannesburg A Cape Dutch family that kept marrying British women, changed one letter of its name in a war, and came off the train at Johannesburg with nothing. Booyzen · Booysen · Kolbe · Barry · Downing · van Jaarsveld · Schoeman
The Lerena Archive Rosario · the Cape · the Rand A horse-dealer out of Argentina, a stable under Table Mountain, and four family traditions tested against the record rather than repeated. Lerena · Taylor
The Mazza Archive Sicily and Calabria · Brisbane Four Italian quarters — Mazza of Piedimonte Etneo, and Prostamo, Arena and Polistena of Calabria — ending in four graves in a row at Nudgee. Mazza · Prostamo · Arena · Polistena

And for children: Our Family — The same ten families, told for a six-year-old.

An evidence-first archive of the D'Arcy family of Brisbane — and of Parramatta, Portsmouth and, if the pedigree holds, Hornby in the North Riding of Yorkshire. Every claim carries its confidence, or is marked as unproven. Living people are excluded from this build as people — no page, no dates, no birthplace, and no name where it would stand as somebody's spouse, parent or child. This archive drops them at the boundary, before the data is ever written. 6 are named on purpose — as the authors of a eulogy and as the reason this archive exists — each with the owner's recorded confirmation. The rule and its six exceptions →

This archive joins the others through a marriage in the present generation, which is not published because the people in it are alive. How many archives there are, and which, is said once — by the ring above this line, which every archive reads from one shared file so the count cannot drift. This paragraph used to give its own number and had fallen a whole archive behind it.
