The crossing, and Brisbane

Part V · 🇬🇧 🇦🇺

Seven lines reached Australia seven different ways: a garrison posting, a convict ship, a free passage, a paid one, and three nobody has dated. A major of the 39th Foot reached Port Jackson in September 1826 on the convict ship England, with his wife and baby daughter in the cabin, and the General Hewitt followed in 1854. These pages run on to Brisbane, an inquest in 1902, the Great War and the graves.
